RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences is a non-profit, independent private university founded in 1784 as Ireland’s national body for training surgeons. In 2019, it was officially granted university status by the Government of Ireland, becoming the country’s ninth university. It remains the only institution in Ireland exclusively focused on medicine and health sciences.

RCSI is one of Ireland’s largest medical universities, with over 4,000 students representing more than 95 countries. It operates campuses in Dublin, Bahrain, Malaysia, and the United Arab Emirates, underlining its global accessibility and international scope.

The flagship campus is located at 123 St Stephen’s Green, right in the heart of Dublin. It features a world-class clinical simulation centre spanning 10 floors—one of the most advanced in Europe—alongside the main university library and cutting-edge research facilities. Just across the street lies St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin’s historic public park, offering a green escape in the city centre.

Thanks to its central location, the RCSI campus enjoys excellent transport connections, including bus and tram access, making it easy for students to get around the city.

Students can choose from several accommodation options:

  • On-campus student residence (single or shared rooms),

  • Homestay with local Irish families,

  • Private rentals, either independently or shared with other students.

RCSI offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in medicine, pharmacy, physiotherapy, and related health sciences. It partners with top hospitals and clinical centres, giving students access to real-world experience and career development opportunities.

The university ranked 5th in the world for its contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goal No. 3: Good Health and Well-being, according to the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024.

RCSI also supports student life through clubs, societies, innovation hubs, and international medical research opportunities—enhancing both academic and personal development.
